A New Year Finally!

I cannot believe that I haven't posted anything since early last fall. Actually, I can. Those that are close to my know what has been going. Honestly, too much to talk about right now. And I am trying to put things behind me and just move on. :)

So, I am finishing up way overdue orders, thank you guys for being so patient. And I have applied for Anime Detour here in the Twin Cities. I haven't heard back either way, I am hoping for a "Yes" because I have designs sketched out and am ready to roll. And I will be applying for "CON" (Convergence) when the applications are ready. I am really looking forward to both conventions. No new pictures to post right now. I will hopefully have some cool skirts posted next week. One of the posters for Anime Detour is a character wearing a dress/skirt that is a mini-petti. Hello! Of course I will be making those! White with candy pink. Too fun, can't wait to start!

Thank You!!

I just wanted to thank everyone for their patience while my family deals with a personal issue. I can't say much, but things are getting better so that is very positive. Thank you to my customers for having patience with me getting behind on orders. Thank you for your well wishes.

I am almost totally caught up this week, which is a huge relief. Only a few more skirts! The company that I order from has new colors (very cool!) and I have ordered some to have on hand. The periwinkle is very pretty- it is a light blue/light purple mix. It reminds me of fairy's. Also, the marroon is beautiful- very deep. Check out the color chart on the right sight of this, you can click on it to enlarge it.

As always, please email with ANY questions. Again, thanky you to everyone for being patient with me while dealing with our family emergency. Thank you!! Carla

June Already!

I cannot believe that I didn't enter any posts in the month of May. And now June is in full swing! What have I been up to? Plenty. I did some really cool skirts for Rebekah @ ImagesEverlasting.com. Fun! And now I am finishing up some awesome skirts for some ladies attending CONvergence July 1-4. I have to get my butt in gear and finish those skirts! Those are fun! Fuchsia and bright mint, solid fuchsia (to go under a skirt with a bustle)that matches her super cute corset- fun combinations and colors!! I will post pics when I am all done. Off to sew....

Sunday, May 2, Tillies Bean

Wow, the time is just flying! I will be doing a "trunk show" this Sunday, May 2, 12-4 @ Tillie's Bean:
1931 Nicollet Ave, 55404 (just north of Franklin)

http://www.tilliesbean.com/

I am excited! I will be with Valkyrie Design Studio and Tout de Sweet. I will have a pretty good selection of skirts with me, but as always I prefer to do custom skirts. There are SO many color combinations (and sizes) that it would be hard to keep everything on hand. I am really excited because I have a few new skirts that I have done just for this show. One is fuchsia over white with TONS of ruffles, another is mermaid (like Tiffany blue) with white. I also have some solid colors made up as well.

I hope to see you guys there! Tell your friends! Also, Tillie's bean does not "use any ingredient that a five year old cannot sound out". Awesome! Keepin' it local and simple.

St. Paul Art Crawl

Busy, busy, busy. Wow! I am getting ready for the St. Paul Art Crawl which is coming up next week already. I have SO many ideas swirling in my brain, but just not enough hours in the day to complete everything!! Why do I need sleep, why?!

The Art Crawl is April 23,24,25. Different times, check the website: http://www.stpaulartcrawl.org/

I will be in the Carleton building, 1st floor. It is right off of 94 and 280, on University. There is a map on the website of the Art Crawl- right hand side. Look under resources, then catalog or map (catalog has some awesome pictures and a listing of the artists participating). I will be with 2 other artists: Tout de Sweet and Valkyrie Designs. Amazing, specialty chocolates and beautiful, creative jewelery and hair pieces and more.

I am really looking forward to this, but I wish I had more time to prepare. I will get done what I can and that is all I can do. :)

Amazing Hair Bows and accesories

I just got in an order from another stay at home mom who has her own business. She makes AMAZING hair bows! Her name is Victoria, check out her site: http://www.totsinpolkadots.com

I have a good mix of bows, blinging flowers, crochet headbands, and some hats for sale. Please contact me if there are some that you are interested in. I have priced the blinging flowers and hair bows at $6 each. They are beautiful and go perfectly with my skirts! The bows are on french clips, the flowers on an alligator clip. The cool thing with the flowers is that you can clip them onto the waist of the skirt (where the satin meets the chiffon) to give it an extra "pop" of cuteness! :)

Leopard and Zebra and new solid colors, Oh My!! :)

I am really horrible at blogging! I think I just need to switch to an online store instead. Why am I horrible at blogging? I have been busy. Plain and simple- just busy. I actually made these skirts well over a month ago. I love them! They are both adult sizes. I also made a child's 2/3 with zebra and fuchsia. I love it! Next on my agenda, zebra with candy pink.
I am also working on skirts for the St. Paul Art Crawl which I will be participating in. I have so many fun skirts for that. (Several "Alice" inspired designs! Some red and black combinations, some classic blue and white.) I love that I can be so creative for this! I also have some beautiful combinations in the works with chocolate, mermaid, rich purples and pinks. Fun, fun, fun!!!

OMG where has the time gone it is almost February! I think because we have had such mild weather lately I feel like it is almost spring. I have been busy sending skirts out the door, which is awesome! I had a good number of orders for the holidays to keep me busy!! I did get the zebra and leopard material in, which are absolutely beautiful! So much fun! I will post pictures of finished skirts when I am done with them.

Above is a black lace over white mini petti, size 6/7. I made two of those for two little girls that saw Miley Cyrus in Atlanta. Black and white, goes with everything. The teal, purple, bright mint skirt is a size 2T that I made for Ella just on a whim. I paired it with a beautiful teal satin that has sparkles in it. The middle layer is actually shimmer tulle so it has a sparkle look to it also. It is so fun! She loves it and we get so many compliments.

Awesome Photo Shoot!

We had a photo shoot with Michelle Lundgren last week. Talk about some amazing pictures! The sky was pretty overcast, but we did have some sun towards the end of our session. The kids did awesome; they had so much fun! The picture above left is Ella modeling a black over candy pink mini-pettiskirt. The above right picture is a full size red pettiskirt. To the right, is a full size black pettiskirt. Michelle got so many great pictures, it so hard to just pick a few for the blog! Thanks Michelle! http://michellelundgrenphotography.blogspot.com/

Mini Petti black over candy pink!

I created this skirt last week. I have been busy making black with candy pink full skirts for a lot of customers, so I needed something different. I love it! I think that the next one will be more lace and less fluff. But, I just love it! My daughter does too! Professional pics coming soon........

Hot Pink Tie Dye!

Wow this skirt was fun! The outer layer is tie dyed hot pink. The under layer is a light pink. The ruffles are both hot pink and light pink on the outer layer, inside layer has light pink ruffles. I also made this one reversible so the light pink can be on the outside. (Bottom picture)
So cute! The girl that I made this for had one request: P I N K ! She is 4 so she has to dress herself, that is why I made it reversible. (No wrong way to put the skirt on!)

Crazy, Fun Colors!!

I finished this skirt for a friends daughter, 7 years old. Originally she wanted orange, but her mom convinced her to go with fuschia. They were certain on one thing: No light pink! And out of that, this skirt was born. It is a fuschia satin waist band, the first tier is also fuschia. The second tier is one block of fuschia, one block of teal and one block of apple green. The ruffles are fuschia, apple, teal, and yellow thrown in for fun. I think it turned out awesome! I hadn't done anything this crazy before, but WOW. SO much fun!!!

I am also finishing up a solid black skirt for Michelle (Down the Lane Photography) and another surprise for her. :) Again, so close to finishing! I also have a chocolate brown skirt ready, just needs ruffles. I cut out light blue to put on, but I am still debating putting light pink on instead. I just don't know......

Pictures to follow soon!!

So pretty!

This skirt is light pink. It looks darker in the picture than it is in person. Very girly! Very soft! Very pretty!

This skirt is teal. On the color chart it is called arabian. Very pretty. This is a very popular color for spring! It looks great with so many colors! White, black, green apple, yellow, light pink, and especially hot pink. I am working on a mini-petti skirt with several of these colors. I cannot wait to finish it. I will post pics soon.

Fun colors!!

This skirt is black with candy pink. I actually made it for my niece at the request of her mom. It turned out amazing!! It was a huge hit at the craft fair!

Robbinsdale Craft/Bake Sale and Flea Market

So the sale was fun. I didn't sell any skirts, but I got my name out and I had 5 skirts to show. Funny enough, when I was making the skirts I was thinking "I hope this doesn't sell because it would be perfect on Ella" and "I hope this one doesn't sell because it would be perfect for my niece." I am okay with not selling any, I really don't want to be overwhelmed with orders. They take time and this isn't a full time business, just a really pretty, fun hobby! :)
I love the way the teal one turned out. I used a little different satin on the waist (a little thicker, not as shiny). I will make a smaller one for Ella and see how it holds up. It should be nice, that satin was more expensive than the regular one I use. Funny enough, the person next to us at the sale was the husband of a friend. He is a photographer, here is his link: http://www.johnfellman.com/
We had a great day overall, even with it being chilly and some cloud cover. People were in good spirits and there was a great mix of vendors and of course plenty of yummy treats and coffee.

Working hard or hardly working??

Yeah, right. I am working hard. Look at my workstation: Organized chaos. I am getting ready for this Craft/Bake sale here in Robbinsdale. It is May 9 at City Hall. I will have a booth with my skirts. My aunt has a space reserved also with all things that grandma has been working on. Gotta keep grandma busy or she'll get into trouble. :)

Ivory Mini-Petti

Newest creation: Ivory "vintage lace" and chiffon over a fluffy layer of nylon chiffon. The top layer of lace and nylon chiffon is from a slip. This is a mini-pettiskirt so it is shorter and intended to go over leggings, pants or shorts. It is a size 2T/3T. I am selling this one for $45.

New Fabric Order!!!

I just ordered more fabric for my skirts. I cannot wait until it comes in! I have so many ideas to get started on and 2 more skirts for my nieces (black with candy pink ruffle fluff). My daughter will be getting another skirt (of course!). I am also starting to make extra skirts for the Robbinsdale Craft and Bake sale on May 9. The hardest part for me is refraining from making only skirts for my daughter!

Here is the color chart from the company that I order fabric from. They have a new brown color that is not listed. I ordered it so we will see. I also ordered a bright purple color that is not on here. I am so excited! :)
